Steve Nelson earned a PhD in Creative Writing from UW-Milwaukee, worked as a college professor, and has had stories and essays published in various small journals (with two nominated for Pushcart Prizes). His book Teaching The Way:  Using the Principles of The Art of War to Teach Composition was nominated for the 2023 CCCC Outstanding Book Award. As far as he knows, he still hold the course record for the 2.5 mile Writer’s Cramp Race at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference.
